Hypex NC500 / NCX500 Input Buffer with MUSES02 OPAMP

The main question is what is the purpose of the buffers for Hypex Class D amplfiers. The simple answer is the input impedance of the Hypex Class D modules is quite low making it impossible for most pre-amplfiers to drive it. The buffers increase the input impedance and add extra 12-15 dB gain.

NC500 modules completely depend on the external buffer.

NCX500 modules have an excellent OEM buffer. Bypassing it gives the user an option to use more expensive OPAMPs, additional Voltage regulators, higher grade capacitors and precision molded metal film resistors resistors, further reducing the noise and improving overall listening experience. The dimensions of the boards are the same as of the Hypex evaluations boards so that they could be used as drop in replacements.

The module currently available for sale is based on JRC MUSES02 and Hypex HxR series voltage regulators. The MUSES02 is a dual bipolar input high quality audio operational amplifier, which is optimized for high-end audio and professional audio applications with advanced circuitry and layout, unique material and assembled technology by skilled-craftwork. Our own listening experience of MUSES02 is improved staging and clarity, especially in the lower spectrum.

As mentioned above RCVTech buffers supports both Hypex NC500 and NCX500 modules. NC500 require regulated 12V inputs to drive the modulator stage. NCX500 comes with its own HxRs which requires 15V to 25V inputs. RCVTech buffer has two jumpers J1 and J2 which need to be set for either NC500 or NCX500 mode of operation.

This model has three year warranty and free shipment.
